At Original Big Island Shave Ice Co., we take pride in serving fine and flavorful shave ice crafted with aloha.

Our story dates back to 1957 when my mother, Lorraine (Berdon) Kaono, the original "ice master", began serving shave ice in West Hawai'i. Her passion and refined shave ice recipes were taught to me at the age of 10 and has since become a family tradition. 

In 2014, along with my wife Kim, our children (and their families), we founded the Original Big Island Shave Ice Co, Inc. with our first shave ice truck. We still use my mother's homemade natural syrup recipes (with an added touch of my own!) and also feature delicious, local-favorite toppings. From our traditional Rainbow blend, to gourmet specialties like Trini-Chantilly, we have something for everyone! Visit us and experience the best shave ice that Hawai'i has to offer.
